Japan
Japan is the country of East Asia, Country of rising Sun. This Island in the Pacific Ocean has many active volcanoes and Mt Fuji is perhaps the most sacred. Japan has a total of 6852 islands. It is the fourth largest island country in the world with an area of 377,973.89 square kilometers.
Shinto is Japan’s oldest religion, while Buddhism reached Japan in the 6th century from the mainland. Local time in Japan is UTC+9 which is 3 and ½ hours ahead of India. It has four seasons i.e. Winter (December to February), Spring (March to May), Summer (June to August) and Autumn (September to November). Autumn temperature range to 10 degrees. Springs are perhaps most pleasant with warm temperatures and cherry blossoms. Winters temperatures are subzero particularly northern areas and summer temperatures cross 30 degrees. It rains in the beginning of the summer mostly in the month of June. Best time to visit would be springs and thereafter upto Autumn. March April May is Cherry blossom and October November is Autumn.
Tokyo is the current capital since 1868. Edo, Kyoto, Heijo/Nara are the former capitals.

- Hiroshima Peace Memorial – The ruin of the hall serves as a memorial to the people who were killed in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945. Over 70,000 people were killed instantly, and another 70,000 suffered fatal injuries from the radiation
- Itsukushima Shrine – The torii of Itsukushima Shrine, the site’s most recognizable landmark, appears to float in the water on the island of Miyajima

- Mount Fuji is considered sacred mount in Japan. Other two sacred mounts are mount Haku and mount Tate. Fuji is 100 km southwest of Tokyo. It is also surrounded by five lakes: Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Yamanaka, Lake Sai, Lake Motosu and Lake Shōji. They, and nearby Lake Ashi, provide views of the mountain.
